Any duck hunters out there to talk camo??

i'm looking to camo my boat to be able to hunt out it..a lot of guys around here have those prebuilt blinds that pop up...but they seem boxy and big to me...mere's my idea...i've got a 16' jon boat that is already painted camo, which is ok....i built a frame that goes around the circumference of the boat, it is about 12" high....i want to buy one of those military camo nets, about 20' by 10', just drape that over me...have a hole i can pop out of....probably sit on the floor of the boat....i believe in keeping a low profile...i really think this set-up will work ok in the lily pads, but what about on open water....i'm hunting lock and dam #13, mississippi river...any ideas? thanks, bill

What you have described should work just fine.

lock and dam #13, Mississippi river I have never hunted your area so I cant make a call on that part.

I hunt on a large lake and use a PVC frame work around the boat and burlap bags cut up to cover it and add some natural material once I get set up.

But I set up in shallow water because the boat rocking and swaying can make the shot harder.

So I set up in shallow water and carry two 10 foot sections of light steel conduit tubing that I jam in the mud bottom on each side of my boat and tie off to my sides oar pockets to control most of the swaying while I’m working the ducks over, it’s a little added security so you don’t flip that flat bottom with just the right movement at the wrong time.

They pull right out when I am dune.

But other then that you sound like you got a working plain.

MAX-4 HD is the SSSSSSHHHHHHIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT
Reply:We did the same thing then interweaved marsh grass and cattails around the boat!I have had guys tell me it looks like a floating island!

We also scattered straw on top part of netting next to slits cut out for us to shoot from. And we made a small swim platform for the dog to get on at the side of the boat.We just clamp it on and the dog does the rest!
Reply:Sitting on the wet floor of your aluminum boat in cold water in cold weather....wow that sounds like fun!

But hey, if low profile is what you want, it sounds like a good plan to me. I'd put some bows made out of those flex tent poles.

D58s use of the stabilizing poles sounds like what the Cajuns do with their "pirogues" in the swamps. When the birds fly in, the last thing you want to be thinking about is keeping your boat balance.
