What is a good fabric softener, that isn't too overpowering?

i tried snuggle blue sparkle, and water lily and jasmine downy, and i find them to be too overpowering.

and I'm not impressed with downy april fresh.

What is a good fabric softener, that isn't too overpowering?
They have Downy Simple Pleasures fabric softener, that smells good but not too stong. They also have a product, that my grandmother uses, called Mrs. Meyers Ironing Spray. It's for ironing, but you can put 1/2 cup in your rinse cycle while doing laundry. Hope this helps.
Reply:I agree I think they smell too strong too (the new downy ones) and i like smells but thats too much it almost seems like everything is extreme these days for instance, back when my grandma used to use downy I dont think it was as strong. Report It
Reply:Switch to Dryer balls

For real, no smell.....

Non-toxic, allergy-free PVC balls soften fabrics without chemicals

? Includes 2 dryer balls, for use with all regular fabrics

? Lift and separate clothes, make the air circulate more efficiently, and dry faster

? Small tips retain heat and massage the clothes' fibers, making them soft and fluffy

? Safe and natural, better for clothes, Baby's nose and eyes, and the dryer's components
Reply:I*ve used Snuggle for years for just that reason ; it isn*t overpowering; Have now switched to the new Snuggle in the green bottle; called Citrus something ; Smells clean.

Could be you just have an extremely powerful smeller.

Like my husband; he cannot stand perfume of any kind.
Reply:Dah,

Use less than a capfull. Just enough to soften the clothes not to add too much smell.

I think Downy has an unscented one too.
Reply:i know what you mean...i can no longer stand the smell of fabric softeners (not even the sheets)....

so here's what i have done and it seems to be working ok for now...is in addition to my regular detergent, i add a scoop of OxyClean to all loads.

It really makes my loads perk up and they actually smell better. I have been satisfied with this so far.

hope this helps...good luck
