What is that animated film from the 80's/90's about a young boy marooned on a planet with a microphone?

It was a animated film set in space, where the boy had been put on this planet to protect him from something. he had a white and red communication device (which he called mike) which communicated with a mothership and an old man with a metal plate in his head.



*he was told to eat/drink these fruit pods that made him sleepy

*he met a white four legged horse/dog like creature that wandered into a cave and was eaten by these black stringy things

*there was a planet where people were turned into these angel like winged creatures

*an evil character throws himself into this ball of matter and is transformed into being an 'angel'

*there is a trippy warpspeed/time travel sequence with lots of geometric shapes

*it starts with the boy and his family(?) under attack(?) in a spaceship and they have to abandon ship

*the 'good' people are stationed on a planet covered in water a lily pads
