Do wild baby box turtles catch and eat little gold fish in my lily pond?

This tiny new hatched baby turtle apeared in my pond this spring and was about the size of a quarter. It would come out and eat fish food, Now its about the size of the palm of my hand, and has stopped eating fish food. I have a sinking feeling it is now catching baby gold fish, as some are missing. Would it be best if it is taken out to a big open body of water and turned loose in a natural habitat?

Are U sure it is a Box Turtle? I didn't know they were water turtles...
Reply:Yes turtles will munch on your goldfish, and the bigger the turtle, the bigger the fish you'll see disappear! If you have a safe environment where you can relocate the little turtle, that will stop him from eating your goldfish. Make sure you release him in a fresh water source that has plenty of hiding places, or he may become a meal himself!
Reply:If it is in the water then it is not a land box turtle. If it is a water turtle then it will catch and eat fish along with insects, snails and occasionally plants. Just trap it with a turtle trap and relocate it to a local parks pond.
Reply:are you sure this is a box turtle? is it brown or green?

a box turtle would have drowned in your pool by now

(box turtles are brown, water turtles are green)

they can eat fish but usually the fish are much too fast for either of these turtles to catch
