I have a Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily) and the leaves are curling and wilting. how do i keep it/get it healthy?

The plants leave are curling under. The flowers have bloomed but the plant just seems to be sagging. I read to only water the plant once the soil is completely dried out from the previous watering so I've been trying to stick with that. Any ideas on how to care for this plant would be much appreciated.

go ahead and remove any dead leaves, best to use sissors and cut from the bottom. put it in the shower for a minute to let the leaves and soil get nice and wet. then you need to keep it in a nice cool shady spot, these plants do not handle sunlight very well. i own about 6 of them and i have had them for about 5 years now, it was a trial and error thing for me, but now i have beautiful plants and the best part is that they are low maintainence. just water it once or twice a week while you try to bring it back, then stick to once a week.

shade and water is what your baby needs =)
Reply:It doesn't like direct sun.

And yes, it's best to let it dry between waterings - but not to the point of plant-wilt.

If it's getting "completely dry" between waterings, it's possible that the soil is so desecated that it's not taking water, and when you "water" it, the water is basicly sliding down the sides and not soaking into the soil itself. Test this by "watering" it, and then digging down with your finger - there should be no dry spots.

If this is the problem, you'll want to sink the pot in water, and let it sit for 15 minutes until the reluctant soil aborbs liquid again. Then pull out, let drain, and put back in its place.
Reply:I have one that does the same thing. I have found that by watering it when it starts to droop, it will perk back up. It's also neat to sit when it's quiet after you have watered it, because you can hear the leaves perk back up.
